Today, 40% of the energy consumed in Europe is for heating. All this energy can become sustainable through modern district heating systems collecting waste heat from power plants and industry, and working at low temperatures which minimizes the heat loss and integrates more sources of renewable energy.
Did you know that the heat currently being wasted in Europe could heat all of our buildings if it was collected in smart district heating grids?
The video is financed and produced by Blue Planet Innovation, the 4DH Research Centre together with Danish district heating system and component manufacturers Danfoss, Kamstrup, and LOGSTOR, and Danish district heating suppliers Aarhus Affaldvarme and Aalborg Forsyning.

BLUE PLANET INNOVATION - sustainable energy & business
Blue Planet Innovation (BPI) is a company dedicated to guide and advice Danish and European agriculture to develop environmental and economic sustainable business models as a substantial future energy supplier.
CEO of the company is Olav Rasmussen.
Background:
The Danish government has decided that Denmark needs to become independent from fossil fuels. But solar and wind energy cannot deliver all the energy that is demanded from the Danish citizens. That is why biogas in the future will become a demanded energy source. The transition to a fossil free society means that agriculture becomes an important producer of energy. But how will this transition take place?
Blue Planet Innovation (BPI) works with the development of models for biogas production in Denmark. These models ensure that Danish agriculture and the rural areas in Denmark receive the greatest benefits from the growth that a heavy expansion in biogas production will create.
BPI has through collaboration with local and regional stakeholders developed a strong business concept which creates new standards for the way in which biogas from agriculture can be organised, produced and distributed.
