COMBIGAS demonstration plant

This film tells the story about the demonstration plant Combigas – a part of the Ringkoebing-Skjern biogas concept which is developed in cooperation with Blue Planet Innovation. The demonstration plant at Combigas shows that there are great possibilities to multiply the production of biogas in Denmark. With the biogas concept in Ringkoebing-Skjern as a starting point there has been developed a solid and strong business concept, which sets new standards for ways that biogas from agriculture can be organized, produced and distributed. The demonstration plant at Combigas – which has been developed in cooperation with Blue Planet Innovation and Bioeneri Vest - has been running full scale for nearly a year now. The plants productions numbers and economy is very positive. The concept is therefore ready to become implemented in the rest of the municipality as well as all of Denmark. Combigas and the Ringkoebing-Skjern biogas concept is with its approach to production and distribution fully in line with the Danish governments long term plans towards a Denmark supplied 100 % from renewable energy before 2050.

Background:
The Danish government has decided that Denmark needs to become independent from fossil fuels. But solar and wind energy cannot deliver all the energy that is demanded from the Danish citizens. That is why biogas in the future will become a demanded energy source. The transition to a fossil free society means that agriculture becomes an important producer of energy. But how will this transition take place?
Blue Planet Innovation (BPI) works with the development of models for biogas production in Denmark. These models ensure that Danish agriculture and the rural areas in Denmark receive the greatest benefits from the growth that a heavy expansion in biogas production will create.
BPI has through collaboration with local and regional stakeholders developed a strong business concept which creates new standards for the way in which biogas from agriculture can be organised, produced and distributed.
